Paul Oakenfold’s Bunkka album can be said to be somewhat legendary – after many years of recording singles under guises like Grace, Virus and Element Four and remixing along with Steve Osbourse as Oakenfold & Osbourne, it was the Perfecto boss’ first artist album, released on Madonna’s ‘Maverick’ record label in 2002.

The album was met with huge acclaim not only selling over a million copies worldwide, but having arguably one of the most ‘sync’d’ pieces of electronic music – ‘Ready Steady Go’, which was used on 3 Hollywood block buster films including Swordfish, Collateral and The Bourne Identity. The album also included the now legendary ‘Southern Sun’, which needs absolutely no introduction and ‘Starry Eyed Surprise’ which reached number 6 in the UK singles chart.

Hypnotized was a collaboration between Paul and vocalist Tiff Lacey which is back with a vengeance in 2014 with an awesome remix by global trance headliner, Markus Schulz. Already featured on the ‘We Are Planet Perfecto’ album, ‘Hypnotized’ has reignited the Bunkka flame and brought another classic back with a new breath of life.

My Superman (Louis Desero Remix) 

[GREEN MARTIAN] - TFC -

TFC is back, this time on our Green Martian imprint with My Superman. His first outing was on Bonzai Progressive with Joey.L back in the summer and gained lots of support.

First up we have the Original Mix of My Superman which intros with a smooth round of percussions that get the rhythmic juices flowing right from the off. A deep resonating sub bass rattles the sound before a tight punchy kick comes through. Rising FX takes us into the first break where a wonderful melodic sequence brightens up the groove with the help of a sumptuous vocal that captivates the mind with its tale of wonder. A euphoric feeling floats over the whole sound in the most beautiful way while retaining a progressive house groove. Top notch stuff that is not to be missed.

Swiss producer Louis Desero returns to Green Martian with an outstanding remix on My Superman. We last saw Louis in July with his Oriental Breeze which enjoyed a great response across the board. Here he intros the remix with a beautifully melodic sequence as a touch of melancholy creeps in through the vocal. Sweeping pads and arps fade away and reveal a brilliant bassline that meanders through the sound perfectly. Nice chunky kicks set the rhythms loose as percussive elements find their way. Stunning melodies come back into the sound with a vengeance as the vocal delivers its sweet nothings. A true progressive vibe lies at the heart of the track and will definitely make this a must have in any set.

Next up we have the Original Mix of Running Away with its big and brash synths that give it a big room appeal. The intro boasts those big synths that set the tone perfectly for the track and they are soon joined by punchy kicks and a deep throbbing bass that just sits at the low end allowing the synths to take the glory. The track offers up a truly awesome melodic display through big synth sequences that will surely have the floors pumping. On the break the synths subside a little to reveal a nice and simple vocal strain that ties the melodies up beautifully. Very cool uplifting sound that will appeal to many and will no doubt gain a lot of attention.

Digital Department serve up the remix for Running Away and do a great job for sure. We last saw Digital Department in June this year with You Put A Spell featuring Cara Leigh, and no doubt this time around we will be treated to more of the same top quality vibes. The intro sets off with a sharp clap and a rising pads that give way to a filtering kick that turns into a superb pounding thump. Those pads continue to formulate a surreal vibe and really dig deep into your mind. Out of the blue the most warmest bass takes over and adds a beautiful quality to the sound. On the break the melodies shine alongside the brilliant vocals and are complimented with a big break beat pattern. This is a monster of a track that will leave you wanting more with every listen, not to be missed.

Paul Oakenfold has been a pioneer for electronic dance music from the minute he returned from a boys holiday in Ibiza back in the day and decided he was going to launch his own party. Since then he has played on the Great Wall Of China, delivered a soundtrack at the party during the hand over of Hong Kong, stadium toured with Madonna, has witnessed the US finally embrace dance music on a large scale and been responsible for more than a few floor-filling anthems and remixes along the way, working with some of the biggest names in pop music history. It’s no wonder there is a real buzz about his impending Attica IMS Asia Pacific after party. First things first, however, and Paul agreed to collaborate with Google for a live ‘Hang Out’ in the W Hotel, where he interacted with fans around the world in a real time online chat situation, talking about music, mixing some tunes together and describing his own mixing process while doing so, as well as fielding some great questions. New technology is a theme of the Oakenfold party in Attica as Google and You Tube provide a live stream of Paul Oakenfold’s set and also collaborate with San Francisco based company Lightwave to offer Attica clubbers something completely different. 150 clubbers are offered the chance to participate in an interactive experience that measure emotions throughout the event and provides cool graphic updates on screens around the venue, delivering a chart of the top ten dancers/ party people at various points throughout the night, measured through a device held in place against your arm, picking up on your pulse, heart rate and general level of excitement.

The core of this interactive experience is the equipping of guests with Google+ integrated Lightwave bioreactive wristbands. These wristbands, debuting for the first time in Asia, will enable the audience to feel closer and more connected to the performance than ever before. The crowd’s energy will fuel immersive real-time experiences - transforming audience engagement, movement and temperature into reactive artwork.
